How dare those pro-lifers get in the way of free speech!
After jumping through all obstacles with Canadian McGill University officials and the campus Student Union, event organisers were able to schedule, advertise to students and hold on campus a presentation addressing the issue of abortion. However, the event shortly went pear-shaped when, no sooner had the host introduced the guest speaker, and barely had the speaker an opportunity to complete his opening sentence, that a group of rowdy pro-life protesters disrupted the presentation.
Though small in number, these pro-lifers swore at the guest speaker and proceeded to hijack the event, gathering in voice and breaking into renditions of children’s songs for almost two hours until such a time as University officials closed the event down as the building required to locked for the evening. Of Love and Logic
The logical thing about Love
Is that Love precedes logic in all instances
Logic reasons and condemns –
For good or bad –
Love reasons and,
On finding logic inadequate,
Forgives
For
Good
Yet forgiveness is often too difficult to conjure
To offer
And to utter
So we default back to the coldness of logic
That reasons
And when you reason,
You discard,
Like babies with bathwater –
Because that’s what logic leads to
Offering forgiveness bears a love
That smoothes creases
Patches hearts
And pardons grievances,
Yet does not necessitate

Grover from Sesame Street discusses marriage
This video is so innocuous and politically correct that it really irks me.

In summary, according to Grover and his friend Jesse, marriage is an institution:
- between two people
- in which these two people kiss and hug each other
- in which two people live together and help each other out
- where the two people are friends
Three points that I can think from this clip, in relation to the marriage debate raging across the US and other Western countries, are: 1) gender of the participants is never mentioned (and in my opinion is carefully avoided); 2) apparently marriage is completely adult centred (no mention of children or families, which is the key reason for marriage); 3) you can do all the things… Continue reading ...
