At Urban Barbers of Louisville, Inc, we are committed to providing youth with the support they need to process their emotions and express their thoughts openly. Our mission is to create a safe and empowering space where young individuals can speak their “Thoughts Out Loud,” embracing vulnerability and self-expression. We believe that every voice deserves to be heard, and that by cultivating this environment, we help youth develop a new narrative—one where they are seen, valued, and respected for who they are.
Guided by the wisdom of Scripture, we draw inspiration from 1 Timothy 4:12, which encourages young people to lead by example in their speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. We believe that youth, regardless of age, have the power to inspire, teach, and make a positive impact on the world around them. Additionally, we are reminded of Psalm 8:2, which highlights the strength and power that arises when the voices of children and youth are heard.
Our goal is to create a supportive community where youth can freely express themselves, build confidence, and challenge old narratives, so they can embrace their true potential and make a lasting difference in their lives and the lives of others.

J. Divine C.U.T.S. Alexander has always been driven by a passion for helping others. In 2014, he founded the Urban Barbers of Louisville, an initiative dedicated to recognizing barbers who have made a significant impact in the barbering industry. Two years later, in 2016, he launched the "Homeless Haircuts Outreach," providing free haircuts to those in need. That same year, he connected with The Confess Project of America, the nation’s first mental health barbershop movement for men and boys of color. On December 5, 2022, J. awoke from a profound dream about creating a program for elementary, middle, and high school students. Inspired by this vision—and guided by the voice of his late mother, Peggy J. Bolton—he established Thoughts Out Loud Mental Health and Violence Prevention Barber Shop, a space dedicated to uplifting youth through haircare, mentorship, and open dialogue.
